Registering with USA Fencing

All fencing students must register with USA Fencing. USA Fencing Non-Competitive Membership cost is $10.\USA Fencing Competitive Membership cost is $75. Students MUST have an active USA Fencing Membership before they can participant in BRFC fencing classes and activities!

If you have not registered yet or need to renew your membership with USA Fencing, please use the following link to register. USA Fencing web site: http://www.usafencing.org

Once you have registered, please send an email with your name, your USA Fencing Membership ID, and membership type (competitive or non-competitive) to BRFC at [email protected].

WHICH FENCING CLASS IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Traditionally, BRFC has offered foil fencing classes. Starting in Fall 2019, BRFC will offer an epee fencing class. BRFC is happy to expand it classes with this new offering. To avoid confusion, all epee classes will be clearly designated. If no weapon is specified in the class description, the weapon is assumed to be foil. Here is some information that will help you decide which fencing class is right for you:

INTRODUCTORY FENCING CLASS

All students who have little or no prior experience with fencing should enroll in the Introductory fencing class.

BEGINNER FENCING CLASS

All students who have successfully completed a Introductory fencing class and who are still working on the skills necessary for the intermediate fencing class should enroll in the beginner fencing class.

INTERMEDIATE FENCING CLASS

All students who have successfully completed a Introductory fencing class and who have completed the skills necessary for the intermediate class (as recommended by Coach Sides) should enroll in the intermediate fencing class. A student may also request a skills assessment and must pass the test given by Coach Sides to be placed in the Intermediate class.

ADVANCED FENCING CLASS

The advanced fencing class is by invitation only from Coach Sides for those students who have mastered the necessary advanced skills.

EPEE CLASS

New to Fall 2019, BRFC is offering an epee fencing class! Initially all epee fencers will enroll in the same class. As BRFC expands its epee offerings, additional classes may be available.

There may be a few of you who are still unsure of which class to select. In these cases, we recommend enrolling in class with the lower skill level requirement with the option to move up the next level class if Coach Sides determines that your skills indicate you are ready to move to the next level.
